On vacation

So I've decided to leave the country. Danny and I are off on vacation starting the 3rd and coming back the 10th. We're going to a resort in the Dominican. So it should be lots of fun. Check back for pics after the 10th.

My car

So I bought my car with very little fuss, expect for the insurance part. God that was a pain in the butt. The lady I was dealing with didn't tell me all of the stuff that I needed when I went in. So I ended racking up a couple bucks in long distance phone calls on my cell. GRRRRRRrrrr..... Why is it so hard to understand that I need insurance BEFORE I can buy the car. So I don't have a copy of the registration or a bill of sale, because I haven't bought the car yet. All she needed was the VIN number which I didn't need any official pieces of paper to get. Boourns to her.
So I got my vaccinations, meningitis and Hep A. The meningitis my doc just thought was a good idea and the Hep A is for my vacation to Mexico at Christmas. So I discovered two things, the health centre at the school is really good when you tell them you tend to pass out and two there is a fee to get stuck with a needle if it is for a traveling vaccine.

Ah time

So I finished that god damned course and can have a life again. Some of you might have noticed that I haven't posted in a while.
Any way good news I found a place to live next term I am no longer homeless. I'm on Erb st very close to the place I was two houses ago. I'll send out an e-mail with the details closer to my move in date.
So I getting a car!!! I'm buy one off of Danny's dad... well he's all but giving it to me in truth. But I'm not going to argue.
Work is still work a little boring and not to stressful. Well this was shorter then I thought it would be considering the last time I posted, oh well.

Housing

So I got my schedule done up alright. I have Thursdays off and I'm done on Friday's at 11:30. I also don't start any day before 9:30 which is nice. Discovered in the course of doing things that I've got a few electives coming up which is nice. I've officially decided not to do a thesis. I can't write so why in the name of hell would I put myself through that?
Work is ok but I have no idea what we're going to be doing after today because we will finish this paper we're writing.
I'm busy studying for the second midterm in the course I'm taking, and researching for this paper I have to write. I very much dislike writing papers, but you do what you have to I guess.
Going home for the July 1 week-end so that will be nice, as I intend to spend the whole bloody thing at the beach (I have a pull out couch if anyone from the city wants to join me, like Matt).
Cleaned my room yesterday to discover to my delight that I have a wood floor.... I never seem to get caught up on laundry but I seem to have the whole situation under control finally. Figure I'm not going to get to the gym this week, between work, studying, researching, and looking for a place I just don't have the time.
Speaking of looking for a place... Anyone know anyone looking for a roommate for 4 months (I'm starting to consider 12 month leases as well). One condition is it can't be a hole in the ground. I swear that landlords figure they can buy a place and rent it and not do any repairs on it. Like really would it kill them to replace rip screens and replace broken things like door knobs? How about a new coat of paint every once and a while, that is really all it takes to keep a place looking nice. Sigh any place that does look like it isn't infested with rats costs an arm and a leg. Maybe I'll buy an RV and live there...

Scheduling courses is so much fun

So I'm trying like many of you to get a schedule set up for next term. This is hard enough usually with trying to get 4 sets of requirements all lined up so I can actually get everything in before I intend to graduate BUT now they seem to be changing course codes. So I went looking for this two part course to take and its gone!!! So I'm rather confused and no one seems to know what is going on. Those I'm told who do are all on vacation.... story of my life it seems.

It was Danny's birthday last week! He is now old (aka 24) and we had a great dinner for him this week-end. I got to meet a lot of his friends, but I'm having trouble remembering names (no great surprise there). Danny is now the proud owner of his first board game every. So if anyone likes monopoly we can play.

This course that I'm taking over the summer isn't seeming to go so well. I only got a 63% on the first midterm. Now the prof did raise all the marks 3% putting me at a 66% but still.... I was considering dropping the course, if I do at this point my transcript will say WD so it won't effect my GPA BUT they will keep half of the money I paid for the course ($250) which is rather a lot in my opinion. So I guess I will trudge on in the hopes of dragging my mark up to an acceptable place (but I'm still aiming for an 80%, hope springs eternal).

My job is going alright. It seems that we're out of work AGAIN, but I expect that won't last for long. We had someone die in the computer room next to our office over a week ago now (please don't ask about it, its not pleasant to talk about) so the office is just starting to get back to normal.

Well I don't remember if I posted that I signed up for the gym or not but I have. I didn't do so well last week only went once. But I went yesterday and plan to go tomorrow, so this week will likely be better. Well this was rather long but I guess that happens when you haven't posted in a while, but I don't expect to be posting any more consistently anytime soon, between work the gym and my class I'm rather busy (but never to busy to talk to a friend!! So feel free to call!).

The long week-end

Well I was off home for the long week-end and I took Danny with me. Dad insisted that I go but then he ended up working for the whole thing.. go figure.
We went and saw star wars III on the week-end it was good but not as good as I was expecting. Movie just haven't been living up to the hype lately.
I got to see the new cat. It is very cute and as of yet unnamed. Please feel free to offer suggestions. The ideas right now are Pudding, Ella, Bella, Miss Kitty, and Bandit. http://ca.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/dannyng88@rogers.com/album?.dir=987a&.src=ph&store=&prodid=&.done=http%3a//ca.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/dannyng88@rogers.com/my_photos there are pictures of the kitten and the week-end in general. It is rather small even in kitten standards, and has adopted some rather disturbing habits already. It likes to climb legs and curtains, and quite enjoys attacking big toes.
So, that dumb midterm is tomorrow. I didn't get much studying done at home as per usual but I'm not surprised. I'm not to confident about this midterm, because I haven't put much time into studying. But I may yet pull it off a lot of this stuff overlaps with other courses that I've taken. So cross your fingers everyone.

Ahh midterms

So tis that time of the term. When those of us who like to stay ahead of the game realize that we are way behind. Why do professors insist on giving readings for the first class nevermind the first week? Do they not realize that you don't buy the book until you've been to the first class and the prof has said its necessary? Sigh its never a good way to start the term. Because after the first week you are already behind by two chapters in every class! So then when they set up these midterms after 6 classes you are killing yourself trying to get caught up.

So work... we (Corinne and I) have finished up with the first dataset. Well as much as we can without the Prof saying lets just pick this one, or someone who speaks french. We started on our new data set today the prof thinks it is going to take us about two weeks but we got through about fifth of the data in half the day....

Sigh back to reading
